Accessibility statement
Last updated October 10, 2026
CBOs of America is used by students, families, counselors and admissions staff. We want every one of them to be able to use it, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, a switch, voice control or screen magnification.
1. The standard we work to
Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. That standard includes everything in WCAG 2.1 and WCAG 2.0 at Levels A and AA, which are the versions named in most laws and contracts for schools and public bodies.
2. Where we are today
The website and the workspace partially conform to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. “Partially conforms” means that some parts do not yet meet the standard. We say this because the service has not yet had a full audit by an outside specialist, and we will not claim more than we have tested.
3. What is built in
- A “skip to main content” link and labelled page regions on every layout.
- A visible focus outline on every link, button and field.
- Form fields with a visible label, a spoken “required” marker, and errors that are announced and tied to the field.
- Status shown with an icon and words, never by color alone.
- Buttons and main controls sized for touch.
- Motion that stops when your device asks for reduced motion. Background films can be paused, and no video starts with sound.
- Stronger borders and text when your device asks for more contrast.
- Layouts built to reflow on small screens and when you zoom in.
- No overlay or widget that claims to fix accessibility automatically.
4. Known limits
- English only. The workspace and its consent screens are in English. A Spanish preference can be saved, but the screens are not yet translated.
- Uploaded documents. Files that organizations and students upload, such as a scanned transcript, may not be readable by a screen reader. Ask the organization for another format, or ask us for help.
- Wide tables. Some tables in the workspace scroll sideways on a narrow screen.
- Printed reports. Reports saved as PDF from the browser are not tagged for screen readers. The same information is on the screen it was printed from.
- The payment page. Payment is taken on a page hosted by Stripe, and the sign in check on some forms is run by Google reCAPTCHA. We do not control those pages.
- Video. The films on the public site have no speech. One short conference clip has room sound only. None has an audio description, because they show the workspace and scenes that the text beside them describes.
- Emails written by organizations. Newsletters are written by member organizations, who choose their own images and descriptions.
If you find a barrier that is not on this list, please tell us. We want to know.
5. How we test
- We check our own work against the standard as we build, by keyboard and by reading the code.
- Automated checks run against the main public and sign in pages.
- We have not yet commissioned an independent audit or tested with a panel of people who use assistive technology. When we do, the date and the result will be stated here.
The service is built for current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, on desktop and mobile.
6. Report a problem or ask for help
Use the request form, write to accessibility@cbosofamerica.org, or call (951) 415-9756. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do and the device or assistive technology you use.
- We reply within 5 business days.
- If you cannot use part of the service, we will give you the information or complete the task for you another way while we fix it.
- You will not be treated worse for making a report.
7. For schools and public bodies
We know that public schools, colleges and agencies must meet accessibility rules for the tools they use. We do not yet have a published accessibility conformance report (a VPAT). We will tell you plainly what has been tested, and we agree accessibility terms in a signed agreement. Write to accessibility@cbosofamerica.org.
8. This statement
This statement was prepared on October 10, 2026 from our own review. We review it at least once a year and whenever the service changes in a way that affects it.
